Council Elections: What Next?
Our councils make decisions that will affect us all on an almost daily basis - are your bin collections fortnightly or three weekly? Can you drink alcohol in your local park? Do we need more taxis? How much is spent on schooling? How often are decisions on planning applications made? What provisions are available for social care?

Local councillors make these decision every week, and as the results of the local elections are being digested and potential coalitions are formed in some councils, what does it take to make this a success? We are delighted to be joined by Alison Evison, the former President of COSLA and former councillor in North Kincardine, Aberdeenshire. Alison has been in local government for nine years and is standing as an independent candidate this May. She will explain the highs and lows of working as a councillor, and what the challenges will be for the next terms.

Alison will be speaking to our director, Kezia Dugdale on Tuesday May 10 at 2pm. There will be plenty of time for audience Q&A.
